Firefighter Mentor is operated from the United Kingdom. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. Questions go to support@firefightermentor.co.uk.

What we collect and why

If you create an account or subscribe. Your email address, a securely stored password, and your subscription status. If you pay before setting up an account, these are created for you once payment completes. We never see or hold your card details — payment is handled entirely by Stripe.

If you use the free interview marking sample. Your email address, and a record of where on the site you came from, so we can follow up about Firefighter Mentor. We also hold technical information used solely to limit how many free markings can be requested from one place each day.

The answer you write in the free sample is not stored. It is sent to our AI provider to produce your marking, shown to you, and not written to our database. This is stated on the page itself.

If you contact us. Your name, email address and message, so we can reply and keep a record of the conversation.

If you subscribe and use the practice modules. The answers you submit and the markings they receive, so you can return to them later and see your progress. Your responses to the aptitude tests, situational judgement test and behavioural styles questionnaire are kept for the same reason.

Our lawful basis

Contract — running your account, taking payment, and providing the modules you have paid for.
Legitimate interests — replying to enquiries, keeping the service secure, preventing abuse of the free sample, and following up with people who have asked to try it.
Consent — advertising cookies, where used. See Cookies below.

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. It is shared only with the providers who run the service: our database and authentication provider, Stripe for payment and billing, our hosting provider, Anthropic — whose Claude model marks interview answers — and our email provider.

Answer text sent for marking is not used to train Anthropic's models.

Some providers process data outside the UK. Where that is the case we rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent recognised safeguard.

Cookies

Essential cookieskeep you signed in and are required for the site to work. This includes a cookie that remembers your advertising-cookie choice for 180 days, so you aren't asked again on every visit within that window.

Advertising cookies are not set until you choose to allow them. A banner appears on your first visit asking you to accept or reject them, and nothing under this heading runs before you choose.

If you accept, two advertising cookies may be set:

Google Ads, to measure which ads led to a visit.
Meta Pixel, to do the same for ads on Facebook and Instagram, and to tell us when a free trial question was answered or a purchase completed, so we can tell which ads are actually working.

If you reject, no advertising cookies are set.

To change your choicebefore the 180 days is up, clear your browser's cookies for firefightermentor.co.uk and revisit the site — you'll be asked again.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account exists. Contact messages and marking records are kept while they remain useful for support and for your own progress history. There is no automated deletion schedule — if you want your data removed, ask us and we will do it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:

give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
correct anything inaccurate
delete your data
provide it in a portable format
stop or restrict processing, including objecting to processing based on legitimate interests

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will say so on this page.
